Client
Naryn-Karadarya Directorate of Hydraulic Structures, Syrdarya BWO
Region
Republic of Uzbekistan
Facility
Fergana Valley, BFK, 7 km below the Kuyganyar Hydro Facility.
Project overview
SIGMA PRO delivered a project to install and integrate an autonomous balance gauging station (D&A) at a strategically important point of the Big Fergana Canal — at the border of the I and II sections of the BFK, 7 km downstream below the Kuyganyar Hydro Facility.
The project is a key link in the system of accurate water accounting and operational control of the trunk canals of the Fergana Valley. Integrating the facility into the unified Syrdarya BWO data transmission network allows dispatchers in Tashkent to respond promptly to changes in the hydrological situation along the entire BFK.
Tasks addressed
- ✓Accurate balance water accounting at the border of the I and II sections of the BFK — the basis for fair water use in the region;
- ✓Fully autonomous D&A operation: automatic measurement of water level and flow without permanent on-site staff;
- ✓Integration into the unified data transmission network via mobile operators' GPRS modems — stable data transmission from a remote location;
- ✓Real-time parameter monitoring: data from the gauging station goes directly to the Syrdarya BWO CDP (Tashkent) without delay;
- ✓Reduction of operating costs through the use of GPRS technologies instead of dedicated communication channels.
Implementation results
Accounting accuracy
the station records data at the border of the BFK distribution sections, ensuring transparent balance water accounting
Online data
GPRS channels transmit readings directly to Tashkent — the dispatcher sees the situation in real time
Autonomy
the system operates without an operator — errors and delays in reporting are eliminated
Savings
GPRS technology lowers operating costs compared with traditional solutions
