Distributed network of automated hydrological posts
Project overview
SIGMA PRO designed the national automated transboundary water monitoring system for the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project ensures reliable, continuous, and transparent accounting of water resources at international water use points.
The system covers the country's key transboundary watercourses and transmits data on water flow rates and levels in real time to the state water resource management authorities. This is critical for meeting international water use agreements across the Central Asian region.
System composition
- ✓A network of autonomous automated hydrological posts on transboundary watercourses — continuous measurement of water levels and flow rates
- ✓Data transmission systems (GPRS/satellite) for connectivity with remote and hard-to-reach facilities
- ✓A centralized SCADA platform for collecting, storing, and analyzing hydrological data
- ✓Integration with state water resource management information systems
- ✓Autonomous power supply for the posts — solar panels with battery banks for operation in remote areas
Project significance
State accounting
Reliable transboundary watercourse data for meeting international agreements
Transparency
Automated monitoring eliminates subjectivity in assessing water use
Responsiveness
Data reaches state authorities in real time with no delays
Scalability
The system is designed to allow new monitoring posts to be added
